The Forgotten
Hero: Shackleton's Kiwi Captain
Challenge and
motivation, team leading in a crisis, knowledge sharing and
collaboration, team roles and teamwork.
This presentation
incorporates the amazing rescue of Shackleton's Antarctic crew in 1914
and the crucial navigation role of Shackleton's Kiwi captain Frank
Worsley in the epic 17 day rescue voyage in a small boat. It features
some amazing film footage of the Shackleton rescue and offers insights
into taking on new challenges, the role of leadership and teamwork and
above all the use of applied knowledge.
It then briefly covers
scientific and technological advances in Antarctic exploration today,
via brief, stunning video clips of underwater life, modern icebreakers
etc from Natural History New Zealand, and ends by challenging the
audience to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
Some Feedback

quick message to say how much I enjoyed your Knowledge Navigators
presentation on Tuesday, and I know many others did as well. The
Endurance scenes taken by Hurley were truly remarkable. I didn't know
movie cameras were around then - certainly not that far south!"
